Terms of Use

Thanks for your interest in The Curiosity Effect, a suite of online academic enrichment programs. I use the language of “supervising adult” to refer to the adult who paid for the program. The Curiosity Effect are programs designed to be used by the whole family; each family only needs to make one purchase.

Program delivery: The program will be delivered to the supervising adult via email. The challenges will be in an attached pdf. The supervising adult may share the pdf file, whether electronic or printed, with up to 6 children they are personally supervising. It is the job of the supervising adult to provide adequate supervision to children completing their projects.

Communication: In accordance with Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), all correspondence about The Curiosity Effect will be directed to the supervising adult. If you desire your children to email me directly, you must first provide me with authorization to communicate with your child. Please write an email with the following features:

  • SUBJECT: Email consent
  • BODY: I, (your name), give Lindsey Nelson permission to communicate with (child’s name) about The Curiosity Effect via email at (child’s email address).
  • OPTIONAL: I request to be CCed on all correspondence.

Child safety: Supervising adults are held responsible for children’s safety. As supervising adults, please use your best judgment to ensure that children enjoy their adventures safely.

Photos: I would love to see photos of your children at work on their Curiosity Effect projects. In submitting any photos, please know that you are releasing permission for me to use your photos on online platforms of Opportunity Unlocked, including the Opportunity Unlocked website and social media channels affiliated with Opportunity Unlocked. Submitted photos may also be used in marketing materials for The Curiosity Effect and other Opportunity Unlocked programs.

Intellectual property: The content in The Curiosity Effect belongs to Lindsey Nelson. Supervising adults may make up to 6 copies of each week’s adventure to share with children with whom they are directly working at a given moment in time. You are not permitted to sell, reprint, or republish any program materials for your own business use.

Refunds: Because of how this program is administered, refunds will only be available within 48 hours of your initial purchase.

To the fullest extent possible, I am not responsible for any direct or indirect losses, which include but are not limited to, accidents, injuries, harm, loss, damage, death, personal or business interruptions, misapplication of information, loss of data, loss of goodwill, wasted time and for any other loss or damage of any kind, however and whether caused by negligence, breach of contract, or otherwise, even if foreseeable. You specifically acknowledge and agree to release me for any liability that may occur as your child participates in Curiosity Effect programs.
